Those of you who have read my initial threads and inquiries are well aware that I blindly followed whatever nonsense I found around the web until recently. It’s painful to admit how naïve and gullible I am as a grown ass man. I feel like I’ve been viewing the world through a fucking Instagram filter. The good forumites here at SS have lifted the veil in many regards and helped straighten out my training and nutrition immensely. Unfortunately, the deeper I delve into this lifestyle we all love, the more I find things I’ve believed to be utter bullshit.

So guys, please help me out with reality check part II. I had never considered which bodybuilders/fitness models were natural vs. enhanced until joining the forum…now come to find out pretty much any dude I’ve ever idolized or aspired to is on that good shit? I saw physique competitors and aesthetics models and to me, their bodies never screamed roids, so it never crossed my mind that their results weren’t achieved naturally. Mind…fucking…blown. I mean, in hindsight it makes perfect sense… Dudes making a living off their bodies are going to take whatever means necessary to get/keep an edge, and the entire fitness industry revolves around profit. I guess it’s just a little disheartening to suddenly realize that even after 8 years of chicken, creatine, and deadlifts, I won’t be parading around like Tom Coleman or Sergi Constance.

All that being said, I’m not going to grab beer and pizza and throw it all to the wind—I just feel that I need to once again realign my goals. I don’t give a fat baby’s dick what other people take to make gains; I just know I’m not interested in that route myself. I enjoy picking up heavy things and putting them back down, and am simply trying to be the best version of myself that I possibly can. I guess I’m just looking for new role models. I know that Layne Norton is heavily revered around the forum, and for good reason—dude’s jacked and knows his shit. Again, I’m embarrassed at my own ignorance, but my motivation took a hit regardless. HALP.
