Best way to progress after surgery

Im going to start off and say I am having a spinal fusion in March. The doctor told me it would take around a year for full recovery and 6 months just to start being somewhat active again. So a few questions I have would it be best to do some type of ketogenic diet while recovering since ny activity levels will be low and also has anyone had back surgery and experimented with suspension training after avout 6 to 8 monthe to get somewhat used to resistance training again?
