first I want to tell you that I have read stronglifts 5x5 and tried it , I read visual impact muscle building and tried it , and I read superior muscle growth but I don't want to try it ,
all these books and articles talking about the progressive overload , that you have to increase the weights on the bar or to increase the reps with the same weight or the number of the sets you're doing , to make your body adapts to the new challenge ,
and they will tell you , that the bodybuilding methods is sucks , and all the high volume sucks , the intensity is the key , I don't want to argue with anyone on this forum because I think , everyone is talking from his own experience so we can't know if this is wrong or right thing .
I just want to share with you my experience , I started to train when I was 15 years old , I started training full body workout 3 times per week , my body got stronger , I increased the weights , i trained with the 6-8 rep range ,i can tell you that i got stronger than everyone else in my age , but my muscle didn't grow !
so this is the first proof that if you get stronger it's not necessary to build big muscles , my calories was high my proteins was high everything was perfect , after 2 years of training , and switching routines , i started to see the videos for the bodybuilders , they train with light weights ! but they pump up their muscles during the workout , so i decided to try this way ! and what i want to tell you is after 4 weeks of trying ! this way my muscles just blown up , my weight increased !!
the last year i read about the sarcoplasmic hypertrophy and the myofibril hypertrophy , and i know that i was training for sarcoplasmic hypertrophy and all my muscles was just blood and water ! , and if i want to build real muscle i should train with heavy weight like the powerlifting style ! .
and here the problem started , because i started to read all the articles that i mentioned up there !
and i started to lose my muscles that i built with the bodybuilding style workouts , hoping to get bigger and solid muscles ! , but this won't work ! because there's nothing that will tell your body to bigger muscles ! if he don't need them right ?!
so your body is smart if you train heavy he will build strong muscles to handle the weights on the bar ! but he will not build big muscles ! , see brucelee ! he is so strong he trained heavy weights low reps (1-8) but he isn't big !
don't tell me because he was not eating enough , if he was not eating enough he will not be able to train he's workouts so please , don't talk things that not related .
now what to understand from this thread :
if you want big muscles push blood to that muscle
and if you like the progressive overload principle use it with the blood , that means if today you pump up your muscles the next time pump it up more ! and this will force your muscles to grow bigger !!
i'm bigger than all my friends that train with heavy weights ! and i'm training with light weights !
if you want another society that train with high reps and get hugeee muscles !! not big , HUGEEEE MUSCLESSSS !!!
please see the calisthenics people on youtube , they do a lot of reps ! very high reps , they push blood into their muscles ! they eat enough and they grow so fast !!!
so please before you talk about building muscle , try what i told you and then decide what builds muscle !
and again this is my opinion so don't try to argue with me , this will not give any results .
