Obviously new here. I think this might be the place for me though. I've been to other fitness sites and there is a lot of extraneous information. I want to read about lifting and nutrition and maybe get some motivation.

I'm a married, 49-year old mother of a teen ager. On December 28, 2014 I weighed 195 pounds. On December 28, 2015 I weighed 134 pounds. I dieted and did a lot of running through the spring and summer. In September I joined the local gym and promptly left town for two weeks. The day after I got back, I needed emergency surgery.

Within two weeks I was at the gym. I had to start on the machines and did the circuit for about 5 weeks. I slowly started moving to the free weights. I'd worked my way up from the colorful baby hand weights to the dumbbells. Depending on the exercise I could lift between 10 and 30 pounds.

Late December I got sick and was out for two weeks. I lost some of the gains I'd made, but I'm back at it. So that is where I am. I'm planning on doing a lot of reading. I'm thinking about working my way through the 12-week women's plan

I so have a few questions. I'll post them in a different thread. Oh, I was reading and someone said the following stats would be helpful:

1. Height 5'7"
2. Weight 134.4
3. Estimates bodyfat about 20-24 percent
4. Current and passed 3 months of calorie intake Not much I've not reached my goal weight
5. Short term goals (1-8 months) To take off the last 15 pounds
6. Long term goals (anything after 8 months) To be strong. I'm not interested in "toning". I want as much muscle mass as feasible for a middle aged woman who has never lifted before. Oh, and to finish getting rid of the fat.
