Out of curiosity

I've seen a lot of body transformation videos recently where people are coming off of a dirty bulk eating 5000 calories per day and starting their cut. I've never been a fan of the dirty bulk and there is a good chance that I won't try it, but it brings up a question.

I don't know how metabolism is affected when moving up 2000+ calories from maintenance for an extended period of time, but is it easier to lose fat from there since there is so much room to drop calories?

On another note, would there be any benefit from a large surplus in calories for 3-4 weeks (1000-2000 cal above maintenance) prior to a cut?
