Doorway Pull Up/Chin Up Bar

Hi fellas. Long time, no see. Hope everyone is well! I just got a doorway pull up/chin up bar (pic below) to add to my home gym set up. The muscles I have worked so long and hard for are apparently for show, as I can't do even a single one of either...

No matter, I will work for it, like everything else...I have spent a lot of time researching this weekend online about how to get going from square one. I hope I have weeded out the crap, and have a game plan, but I wanted to run it by on SS, as I know I can trust you regulars to steer me right. All I want to avoid is wasting time on what won't get me there, and spending time on anything else I could be doing...

So my game plan based on what I have picked up is to:

1) practice holding myself up in position (using stool to get up there)
2) practice hanging in position
3) work on grip strength by holding plates between fingers
4) work on Lat targeted exercises, such as bat wing rows and barbell pullovers

That's what I have gathered. Thoughts? Anything I missed? Anything a waste?

Any tips or suggestions is, as always, greatly appreciated.
